My Sunbear Day! With 52 Sunbears waiting for their daily portion of soya milk, sugar cane and papaya, and with cages needing to be cleaned, sick bears needing to be treated and babies craving for a cuddle, the day just whizzes by! It is heartbreaking to see the male bears in their small cages, stressed, mentally unchallenged and at the mercy of our generosity to finance bigger enclosures. Once again it makes me furious seeing how much suffering we humans induce on innocent animals. I so wish I had the money to help complete the plan for a bigger enclosure."

About us and this website

The starting point for this website was our stay at Samboja LEstari in July 2008. The situation and the conditions of the male sun bears living at BOS (Borneo orangutan survival) Samboja Lestsari station are really shocking.

Since 2006 the terrain is available but the money for the enclosure flet. There are only the promises of BOS to do something very soon. But there was no calling for donations that allows to start buliding the fences for the male-area.

How can I explain to humans that the protection of the orangutan babys is as important as the protection and assistance for human children - while the same organisation this treaten this wonderful bears as second-classe creatures?

I know that every dollar donaited for the sunbears may be one left for the orangutans, but there must be a sloution, an „island“ for the bears too. So as there is a beautiful area for the femals.

Only the Swiss section of BOS answered to the questions about the male sunbears.
